Brazil National Team to Visit Seattle, Boston in Preparation for World Cup Qualifiers
Brazilian stars expected to travel in preparation for World Cup qualifiers
NEW YORK – Soccer United Marketing today announced that five-time world champion Brazil will play two matches in the United States in 2008. On Saturday, May 31, Brazil will face Canada at Qwest Field in Seattle, Wash., and will then travel to the East Coast to face Venezuela in Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. on Friday, June 6, in a doubleheader with the New England Revolution of Major League Soccer in its regular season match versus FC Dallas.
Brazil is expected to call up its world-renown superstars such as Kaka, Robinho, Ronaldinho and Alexandre Pato given its 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier match versus Paraguay on June 14, in Paraguay at Defensores del Chaco, a week after the U.S. tour.
May 31 – Brazil vs. Canada (Qwest Field, Seattle, WA)
In partnership with Seattle Sounders FC, SUM will organize the first match of the Brazilian National Team on Saturday, May 31 at Qwest Field. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. PT.
The last time that the Brazilian National Team played in Seattle was in May 1976 when they faced the USA League XI in a 2-0 win in the USA Bicentenary Cup. The last time that Canadian National Team played in Seattle was on July 9, 2005 in a 2-0 loss to the United States during the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Brazil’s all-time record against Canada is 1-1-0.
Canada, led by Houston Dynamo star Dwayne De Rosario and Deportivo la Coruña’s Julian de Guzmán, is currently preparing for the start of its 2010 World Cup Qualifying campaign against Saint Vincent and Grenadines on June 15 in Kingston, Jamaica before the return leg five days later in Montreal.

June 6 – Brazil vs. Venezuela (Gillette Stadium, Foxboro, MA)
In a doubleheader with the MLS regular season match between the New England Revolution and FC Dallas (originally scheduled for June 8), Brazil will face Venezuela at Gillette Stadium on Friday, June 6. FC Dallas at New England Revolution will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by Brazil vs. Venezuela at 8:45 p.m. ET.
The game will mark Brazil’s second appearance in Foxboro, and its third visit to New England. Last year, Brazil defeated Mexico, 2-1, on Sept. 12 in front of a sell-out and record crowd for soccer of 67,684 at Gillette Stadium.
Venezuela will be making its first-ever appearance on the U.S. East Coast. Its last match on American soil was a 3-1 loss to Mexico in San Diego, Calif., on Feb. 28, 2007. Led by Spanish club Real Mallorca’s leading scorer Juan Arango, Venezuela is currently in preparation for its next World Cup Qualifying match on June 14 against Uruguay in Montevideo.
Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 9. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-877-GET-REVS or Ticketmaster at (617) 931-2222. Group discounts are available for parties of 20 or more. Revolution season-ticket holders will only use their game ticket for the FC Dallas game (ticketed as Game 6) for the doubleheader, but the Brazil-Venezuela match will represent Special Event A in their packages. Ticket prices for the doubleheader will be released in the coming days.
A special presale for Revolution season-ticket holders and Gillette Stadium premium seating members will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6.
